"I cannot say enough good things about Himalayan Yoga Bliss. I did my 200-hour training in Darjeeling in May 2017, and it was a more incredible experience than I could have ever imagined. The group size is perfect (~15 students), and you are joined by passionate students of different ages from all over the world. The multi-style nature of the course ensures that you receive a strong foundation Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Vinyasa Flow. The asana/physical yoga practice is complemented by adjustment classes and teaching practicums, as well as pranayama and other more spiritual components (satsang/morning chanting, walking meditation with visits to local temples, yoga philosophy classes, and spiritual counselling sessions).
Darjeeling is the perfect setting for a yoga teacher training. It is beyond beautiful (no Google Images photos do it justice!) and the weather is not too hot. Coming from Canada (and this being my first time in India), I found the accommodation to be simple but adequate (I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I adjusted my standards!). You will find incredibly welcoming communities at Himalayan Yoga Bliss and more widely in the city of Darjeeling; these places will begin to feel like home. Sonam (the owner) and the rest of the staff will go above and beyond for you; they organized a weekend retreat for us, booked our transportation to the airport, shared tips about local hikes, viewpoints and activities, took us to local restaurants, and bought us many teas. The food is incredible and the cook, Palden, is an absolute gem! You will not regret doing your TTC here!"

"I wanted to become a yoga teacher, and I could not have imagined a more meaningful and comprehensive training program. I learned a very broad array of yogic principles and practices and had opportunities to deepen my understanding of things I'd been exposed to prior. I've been practicing yoga for approx 10 years, and think I probably got as much or more out of my 200-hr training as those who were somewhat new to yoga. The way the information was organized gave a very broad and well-thought-out program for newer practitioners while also giving those more experienced increased depth.
I came into the program with a lot of questions around why teachers commonly do particular things in yoga classes - saying sanskrit terms (which I thought was useless), chanting and "Om"ing, etc. I came away with answers to all of these and am excited to share with students the significance of these practices, rather than having people go through the motions.
The studio was amazing. It is near the top of a Himalayan foothill with 180 degress of glass facing out into a large Darjeeling valley and overlooking the world's third tallest mountain.
This program was perfect for me - I came to India to learn as much as possible during my month here, and Himalayan Yoga Bliss, Sonam and Mahadeva were awesome and incredibly knowledgeable. I can't imagine having done it somewhere else. I should mention that I don't think this is a training program for those interested in drinking/going out. We had a lot of opportunities to go out to dinner and explore (I even ate enough momos to rank fifteen of Darjeeling's momo restaurants - yeah, I'm a dork), but it seemed everyone there came to learn and practice yoga. We had plenty of time to socialize and get close to each other, and the group really helped each other along to maximize our experiences.
I thought I was more-or-less checking a box to get my certification and didn't expect to be personally challenged in so many positive ways. I left the program completely ready to teach. I'm grateful for the experience."

"Before arriving to Darjeeling my knowledge of Yoga was extremely limited so I sought an authentic place to acquire ancient knowledge and found it at Himalayan Yoga Bliss' Yoga teacher training program. The first thing I learned was that Yoga was not in fact a series of physical postures as I had learned in the West, but a profound philosophy for living a blissful life. Yoga is a powerful tool to overcome sorrow. It is the Science of the Soul.
Words will forever fail to express how much gratitude, love, and respect I have for Sonam Ji the Guru and founder of the studio. She and all of the amazing teachers truly walk the path of light. It was an honor to be taught by them.
If you seek a profound life-altering experience, regardless of whether you want to teach Yoga or simply discover more about yourself, I assure you, look no further and book your reservation for Himalayan Yoga Bliss YTT. Sonam Ji is a true Guru who shines like the sun at midday. She is a master of the art of Yoga, but too humble to admit so I will speak for her. Her knowledge of this Universe is nothing short of incredible. She is a rare soul. Good luck on your journey. Namaste. ॐ"

"The best way I can describe it is that Himalayan Yoga Bliss in Darjeeling is PURE MAGIC!!!! The center is located in a very quiet, safe, residential area in Darjeeling Hills (where you can see the actual mountains right outside the studio windows) and walking distance from unbelievable temples, restaurants and shops in town. The food was FANTASTIC -Paulden is the most joyful and talented chef! Some of the friendliest people, best masala chai, and incredible momos are right down the street from the studio as well!
I live in Los Angeles and had been forewarned before coming here that many centers around the world offer yoga teacher training courses, but really the experience ends up being a mini-vacation with some teaching at the very end. From Day 1 of YTT here we started teaching each other! Our instructors took us through very detailed and descriptive explanations of postures to help us best verbally instruct students, and we progressively increased the number of poses, variations, and length of classes we taught. By the end of the TTC I had practiced teaching so much that I felt completely confident in my ability to teach yoga to strangers of any level!
The experience here was truly life-changing. Our group bonded in a way I could not have even imagined, and we became a family -supporting each other, challenging each other, helping each other achieve our goals. I felt so empowered by the incredible teachers and yogis here, and the vibe of being in the Himalayas is unlike anything I have ever felt in my life. This training incorporated Indian traditions, immersed us into a vibrant new culture, encouraged us to experience a lifestyle of simplicity and positivity just like the original yogis did, and helped each and every one of us open our hearts and minds to love and endless possibilities. I cannot thank Sonam and Himalayan Yoga Bliss enough for allowing me the honor of that incredible journey. Highly recommend and will most definitely be returning!!!"

"I absolutely loved the month i spent here. Sonam and team are fantastic and beautiful people. Well rounded and balanced course. All the right elements of learning and pleasure combined. I wish i was back in the studio! Making music in satsang. Visiting amazing temples and monasteries, walks to hidden places, just wait for the active meditations and a few other surprises! I should mention the food is so yummy and served with the upmost graciousness and respect. Great to practice asana twice a day and great opportunity to practice teaching. Did i mention the jaw dropping mountains views. Its enough to bring tears to your eyes... Never mind the trataka! Much love. Om namah Shivaya."

"I had a fantastic time doing my YTT 200 with Himalayan yoga bliss. They are there for you every step of the way. Sonam is such a warm caring human being. I developed so much personally on the course. It is a fantastic thing to do, and a beautiful place to do it. There are certain western luxuries which must be sacrificed but they really try to accommodate people, and provide as good wifi as the electricity allows, and hot water, decent food etc. Palden is a wonderful chef, good-natured and just a lovely man!"

"I have just returned from this teacher training school after completing a 300 TTC . So let's start with the location set in Darjeeling with the Himalayas in the distance my hotel was basic but Cleen and tidy with hot water for showers a small kitchen and Wifi and just a short walk from the school and the town itself. The people of Darjeeling and so very happy to see you and warm and friendly lots of local shops big and small . And now onto the school itself the teachers are fantastic and even though we ALL did 12 hour days nothing was too much trouble and often used personal time to help and guide us. ALL the teachers are very knowledgeable about yoga and are more than happy to pass this on to the students. The food (3 times a day ) was always good and very yogic plenty of hot tea and filtered water always at hand. We had trips to local temples mountains and the trip to tiger hill was simply fantastic. To watch the sunrise was one of my highlights. Even after my return home, I can get help via emails or WhatsApp normally the same or next day. We had sixteen in our TTC and you make such wonderful friends with everyone that I hope to keep for life. I must also point out that I am a 60 year old ( big ) man and at no time did I feel not part of the group by teachers or fellow students. So in summing up Himalayan Yoga Bliss. I feel blessed to have found it my yoga both practice and knowledge have moved forward and now myself teach three four times a week so I now pass the light that was passed to me. If you want a TTC then yes this is one of the best""

"Darjeeling is a quaint and welcoming town in the HImalayan mountains of India. The people are friendly and the food is amazing. Shopping is right down from the studio along with the fresh food market. The studio itself overlooks the hills of Darjeeling, and the Himalayans peak out to kiss your eyes from afar. Incredible. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the instructors my group of 16 were blessed with were wonderful. One instructor was Eastern trained and the other Western, so the teachings meshed together in a wholesome way. The food was delicious and WOW we were fed plenty! The structured routine of getting up at 5:30 every morning was effective and strengthening for me personally. The days are long and you do get tired, but hard work always pays off :) I left feeling that I found some part of my soul and I still miss my brothers and sisters from the yoga family we made in those 4 weeks. I highly recommend this experience to anyone."

"The days spent at Himalayan Yoga Bliss will forever be some of my most cherished. Attending school each day was like stepping into a sacred journey filled with ancient knowledge and profound wisdom bestowed upon us throughout each morning Samsung, asana practice, and philosophy class. I feel as though Sonam and the teachers are passing along the highest and most genuine messages of yoga that can be found today. The school provides you with all you possibly need to feel the "om" at the home, as you'll leave feeling nourished, cared for and rejuvenated with relationships and lessons that you'll keep with you forever. I have endless gratitude for being led to Darjeeling to complete my training."

"I attended a 200 YTT program at Himalayan Yoga Bliss this last summer. Sonam runs an incredible program that is well balanced and all around beautiful. We all walked away with a new perspective on life that surpassed my expectations in addition to being well prepared to teach yoga. I highly recommend this program. I am very greatful. Namaste!"
